Irish Minors Schools Gala
Well done to all our swimmers today at the gala, great fun, PB’s and medals too!!! Your schools should be very proud, BASC certainly are well done everyone. Full list of results available here
Aquasprint Gala Templemore
There has been a last minute change to the Aquasprint fixture vs Templemore on Saturday 4th February. The fixture will still be going ahead on Saturday but warm up now begins at the later time of 6:30pm. The bus has been booked for 5:00pm.
Please let Geraldine know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend or not taking the bus.
SU Development Gala 2 – Omagh
The second development gala with new events takes place in Omagh on Saturday 21st January. Up to date Psych Sheets and Session Reports are on Swim Ulster website. Volunteer rota will be issued, following the recent successful training course from Frank we have no shortage of qualified volunteers.
Irish Short Course
Superb swimming from Banbridge at weekends ISC Championship in Lisburn. Congratulations to Kate who reached finals in four of her events and another outstanding gala for 13 year old Julia, who not only made the finals in all her events, but also took home bronze in the 400IM A final with a time of 4:59:03!
Aquasprint Gala – Bangor
First Aquasprint of the season and first gala for many of the young swimmers from Banbridge and Bangor proved to be a very close match. Many thanks to Bangor for travelling to BLC. Swimmers and parents enjoyed a friendly and competitive night.
Ulster Short Course
Good luck to BASC swimmers at this weekend’s gala in Aurora. Up to date Psych Sheets and Session Reports are on Swim Ulster website. Santa Hats are compulsory for timekeepers for Sunday’s sessions!!
PTL Gala – Away to Larne
Well done to PTL swimmers who attended gala in Larne. Friendly and competitive swim resulted in a win for Banbridge. Many thanks to Larne for hosting the night and providing food. Next gala is at home with Cookstown.
SU Winter Qualifying Gala
Lisburn proved to be a comfortable first gala for the start of the qualifying meets. Banbridge swimmers were undeterred with the changes to the IAG standards in which qualifying times must been gained from 1st Jan 2017.
All swam PBs with many taking home medals; Kate, Ellie, Jack B, Rachel B, Sorcha, Bailey, Maeve, Julia, Jack L, Katie, Niall, Kathryn, Matthew, Jodie, Becki, Ronan and Adam to name a few! Many thanks to poolside coaches and volunteers on the day.
The season kicks off early this year with the first aquasprint gala against Bangor on Saturday 3rd Dec in BLC. Warm-up is at 5.30pm with gala start at 6pm. Notes have been issued to swimmers, if you cannot attend for any reason please contact Geraldine directly.
SU Winter Gala
The Cafe at Lagan Valley Leisureplex are offering a special menu for the weekend. To avail of the special price of £5 you must pre-order by calling or emailing the number or email address on the menu. Please check volunteer rota and entries.
War Memorial Gala
The War Memorial Gala ceromony included a ceremony to commemorate all swimmers who fell in the 1914-1918 and 1939-1945 World Wars. All swimmers and officials stood in silence around the poolside to remember.

PTL Season Start
First gala of the season on Saturday 22nd Oct against Templemore was a great start for the PTL team. Thanks to our volunteers performing gala duties, and to hosts Templemore, some great swimming from both camps and not forgetting the tasty supper afterwards, good luck for the season ahead.

First gala of the season is on Saturday 22nd Oct in Avoniel Pool, Belfast against Templemore. Warmup at 4:30pm. No bus available for this gala, should you require lift or unable to attend please advise Geraldine before Friday.

Development Meets Changes
The first of the development meets this season will take place in Armagh on Sunday 2nd October. Closing date of entries is Monday 19th Sept. Please mark on Club Board or email entries to firstname.lastname@example.org
Swim Ulster have proposed and implemented some changes to the Development Meet format for the 2016-2017 season:
- A staggered introduction to competition i.e. 9/10yrs will only swim 50m events plus 100m Individual Medley and 11&over will swim 50m Butterfly; 100m Backstroke, Breaststroke, Freestyle; and 200m Individual Medley
- Technical assessment on the Individual Medley events to ensure that swimmers progressing to the Qualifying Meets have four legal strokes and can execute good streamlining on turns
- Introduction of mixed relays for speed development and fun
Swimmers wishing to qualify for the Qualifying Meets are required to achieve a qualifying time on Individual Medley and two 50m (9/10yrs) or 100m (11&over) qualifying times.
Banbridge ASC Ulster Squad Members 2016-2017 Announced
Banbridge swimmers have again this year been named as part of Swim Ulster Squad. With a change in format this year the Swim Ulster Performance Pathway has 3 tiers. Swimmers must achieve qualifying times for Performance and Regional Squads, and Academy Squad members must be ranked top 6 in 200IM and top 3 in all other Olympic strokes for their age.
Banbridge ASC are delighted to announce 8 swimmers earning their places on squad this year. For Performance Squad, Julia Knox, Regional Squad Kate Allenby, Ruby McNiff and Maeve Cleland and Academy Squad Jodi McMullen, Ellie Bingham, Rachel Blemmings and Adam Wilson.

IAG&Y Division 1 NAC Dublin
IAG Championships & Summer event provided more medals for Banbridge swimmers during an eventful and exciting week of fantastic performances from all the swimmers; Kate, Jack, Rachel, Maeve, Julia, Jodi, Ruby, Becki, William and Adam. Training for next season will commence at 6.45am on Friday 2nd Sept for all performance squad swimmers. All other swimmers to resume training at normal sessions on Saturday 3rd Sept.
IAG&Y Division 1 NAC Dublin
For the IAG Championships & Summer event, officials roster, a copy of the competition psych sheets, and order of events (incl. the time of medal ceremonies) and a provisional session report are available on Swim Ireland site.
Swim Ireland are also offering IAG swimmers the opportunity to purchase souvenir t-shirts and programs in advance for collection during the Irish Age Group and Summer Open.
Division 2 Limerick – Scottish Nationals
Good luck to all the Banbridge crew in Limerick this weekend. Follow their progress using live timings and like their antics on the club facebook page and twitter feed. Niall already taken gold in the 1500m with Dawson close behind with bronze.

Swim Festival Newry
This was the final gala of the season for the younger swimmers and it did not disappoint. Extremely well run thanks to the many volunteers and the generosity of hosts Newry & Mourne.Silverware home in abundance along with PBs ensured it was a gala to remember. All set for next season!
BASC Annual Gala 2016
Another fun and well attended Club gala ended the season for many. This was also the first gala for some of the younger swimmers and all swam extremely well. See full results. Many thanks to announcers Mary and Patrick, Jackie and Angela on desk, Lorraine and all the timekeepers, touch judges and coaches who kept things running smoothly.
Summer swimming will continue for Div 1 and 2 swimmers. Also Doretta will be running her summer swims on Wednesdays 6-7pm beginning Wed 29th June to Wed 27th July. Places filled on a first come first served basis. This is a valuable opportunity for our youngest swimmers to impove their skills over the summer.
